The Red Lion Hotel Kalispell receives mixed reviews, with notable inconsistencies in cleanliness and service. While some guests appreciate the convenient downtown location, access to amenities like the pool and breakfast, and friendly staff members such as Allie, others report significant issues with room conditions, lack of responsiveness from management, and inconsistent service levels. Recent feedback highlights a persistent need for improvement in housekeeping and potentially overall maintenance.
I chose this hotel because of the shuttle to the airport, but I was pleased with my entire experience. It was extraordinary in every way. I enjoyed the pool, hot tub and sauna. The room and especially the bed were comfortable. The breakfast was a cut above the rest. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the shuttle driver was professional. I highly recommend this property!
Prior to even entering my room, my card had been rung up in an attempt to pay for someone else’s room. I walked into my room upon checking in and my room smelled horrendous. I left the room and the hotel within 30 seconds of getting in to my room and was not able to be given a refund on my refundable deposit or room fee.
We have stayed here many times in the past. House cleaning appears to be a challenge. The halls were usually not vacuumed, elevator floor sticky. Woke up early, so went to the lobby for coffee. Front desk person said he wouldn't put any out until 3:30. No personality, wrong occupation for this young man.
The location is great, as it is in downtown area where everything is accessible, shops and stores are nearby. Service is good, like their breakfast bit fancier than most hotels. Also love that the hotel have indoor pool, hot tub and sauna, it is really warm inside. BUT, I hate that our room cold AC is so freaking not working right, it didn’t get cold in our room, the AC is for sure due for change, guess only good for heater but not cold ac. Stayed there 4th week of September for 3 days in a 2 Queen bed with 4 people. It was difficult to sleep since the comforters are thick and the ac is not cold at all. It was like 74°F all the time inside with an AC saying supposedly outputting 54°F. End up we just left the window/door open for the room to be cold, since it’s cold outside lol Wasn’t able to change room since we were busy and have a lot of stuffs out to even bother moving.
The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the breakfast was excellent. Front desk staff were so unfriendly, unprofessional, and unhelpful. It was disappointing. They are often not there at all. I emailed the general manager to share the feedback there instead of here but received no reply. We were overcharged & our room was not to our satisfaction but we couldn't get help because there was no one at the front each time we went. We ended up tracking down a room cleaner to get what we needed. Use a different hotel in the area.
My family and I were extremely disappointed with our stay at the Red Lion Hotel. We had two rooms, and both were in equally poor condition. The carpets were filthy and heavily stained, and we even found garbage under the beds — including some pills, which is completely unacceptable. The towels were stained and frayed. The curtains were dirty, and there was hair left on the bathroom counter. Everything we touched in the room was sticky. The worst part, however, was finding what appeared to be a fingernail or toenail on the sheets in one of the rooms. It was clear the bedding had not been properly cleaned between guests, which is both disgusting and concerning from a hygiene standpoint. The only positive part of our stay was the breakfast. There were plenty of options, and the breakfast staff was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, a good breakfast doesn’t make up for the lack of cleanliness in the rooms. We would not stay here again and do not recommend this hotel until serious improvements are made in housekeeping standards.
I recently stayed at The Red Lion and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, and the atmosphere was both welcoming and relaxed. But what truly made my stay exceptional was the outstanding service at the front desk—especially from Allie. Allie went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She was warm, professional, and genuinely cared about making guests feel at home. Whether it was helping with check-in, answering questions, or offering local recommendations, she handled everything with a level of care and attention that’s rare to find. Honestly, Allie is a standout employee and a true asset to The Red Lion. She deserves recognition—and a promotion! Her dedication to guest service is next level, and it really set the tone for my whole stay. Highly recommend this place, and huge thanks again to Allie for making my visit memorable!
I arrived early and was hoping to get a room in order to rest, and they conveniently accommodated me right away. I had a king size bed room that was really large, as well as the bathroom. The style is a bit outdated but "lodgy". There's breakfast as well and each room has its own AC/heating system. The location is great as it is right on main street and only a short drive from FCA
They messed up our reservation. We needed a large room due to the number of people staying. They gave us the wrong room. An employee didn’t charge us for the mess up and fixed the reservation the second night which we paid for. The manager called back and said the employee wasn’t authorized to do that and recharged us for the room mess up. She said all she could do was give us 25% discount (for their mistake) when my husband said really? She hung up on him. The employee is awesome for correcting their mistake and taking responsibility. Manager is awful.
We ended up staying 2 nights. It was a nice place. The only trouble I had was the room security deposit hold of $75 for each night we stayed, $150 total. I didn't receive the money back until 20 business days later. They aren't quick to refund your money. The coffee bags for the coffee maker were thin. When you opened the coffee bag they coffee bag inside would rip.
